Rainbow box, Montessori philosophy, child’s play and Toy Rotation

We are lucky to have a spare room in our flat and we use it as a playroom. We have never been satisfied by the way it was looking and found it so unpractical with lots of plastic boxes filled with toys.  It took us few months to decide exactly how we wanted to organize this spare room and how we wanted to use it. We definitely knew that the room needed to be divided in different areas like reading, playing, and study. We wanted to make a class room with a Montessori philosophy. I will explain this later in another post. Basically, we are looking for the child independence and try to encourage it by letting him choose and decide. Therefore, the two essentials we absolutely needed were a child-sized table and chairs and  low shelving unit for materials. We choose the famous Kallax units {Ikea} and used them to divide the room too. We made a reading/Montessori Study corner, a writing/Art corner with a table and a playing/Practical life corner. We now organize any educational …

Today I am happy to have the opportunity to talk again about From Babies with Love. Christmas is just around the corner and I know that many of us are busy getting presents ready for our beloved ones. But what about children that have lost their parents? What about the orphans ? Those who are not lucky enough to live in the same conditions than us? All From Babies With Love profits go around the world to help abandoned children.  I wanted also to share with you the reason why I am proud of this particular brand and why I am happy to present you their collections. Life is all about choices and sometimes, buying from the right places make a difference not only for us but for others too. I am not patronising you I am just sharing what I believe is a great initiative. From Babies with Love was founded by former City accountant Cecilia Crossley. After becoming a parent, her concerns for the welfare of children universally were heightened. Whilst out shopping for her son’s baby clothes, Cecilia …

Whisbear, The Humming Bear Review

Before baby#3 birth, I was looking for a sleeping aid. I know how important it is to establish a good sleep routine and this, from birth. I heard about the Whisbear and I shall say that I was impressed! Having already two babies, one who suffered from allergies and bad colics from birth and the other one from reflux,  I should admit that we have used quite often the vacuum and a hairdryer to help soothe them in despair. I forgot the road trip in the car and the tumble dryer! So talk to me about white noises, yes, they can be definitely useful and if anything could avoid us to use all these devices, why not to try? What or should I say who is Whisbear®, The Humming Bear? Whisbear® The Humming Bear is an innovative sleep aid created by two Mothers and a multi-award winning bear. Based on their own experience, they have designed a product aimed to help newborns with a smooth transition from a prenatal to postnatal life by recreating soothing sounds of the …

Four Months old Milestones: Enjoying Tummy time with Little Tikes Toys

The first year in a baby’s life is so rich and filled with milestones. We have reached the four months stage recently and baby is not a baby anymore. She moves a lot, smiles, interacts with her sisters and seems even to be interested by food! So what are the important things for this fourth month? Baby is becoming keen to explore her surroundings therefore it is important to try giving her materials of different textures to explore and stimulate her. It is the right time to introduce a treasure basket with a lot of sensory toys to help baby explore with all her senses. I will try to show you later an example of treasure basket: I am actually preparing one for her six months as she is grabbing very well at things. Baby is also more likely to be distracted by what’s going on around her so feeding is becoming more difficult. She is so happy to look at her sisters and loves playing with them particularly with #2 who is two years old. They are both funny and so …

Developing fine motor skills through Arts {OkoeNorm Cone Crayons Review}

When I was young I always enjoyed drawing and painting. I love arts in every form so it was naturally that I introduced arts very early in my daughters lives. I am no Picasso or Monet. I just enjoy using charcoals, watercolours and paints. And a thing I learned as a childminder –I used to do it to pay my studies – children love arts too! Children delight in exploring and creating with art materials. These experiences help children develop many life skills. Art is important during their early development. It engages all the senses in open-ended play and supports the development of cognitive, social-emotional and multisensory skills. As children progress, art continues to provide opportunities for brain development, mastery, self-esteem and creativity. This is why I introduced really early arts in my children lives. Baba#1 started when she was really young to be interested by my crayons and she learned easily to hold a pen. She loves crafting and drawing. Baba#2, only two years old, starts being fascinated by our drawing sessions and wants to join …

Geggamoja Autumn Winter 2016 Collection Review: Stripes and Zigzags Love!

Back to Tuesday, I introduced to you Geggamoja, a Sweddish Organic Childrens Wear brand. I totally fell in love with the neutral colours and unisex designs that i could not resist to try some of their garments. Geggamoja sent me some of their new collection clothing for my toddler alias Baby2 and for little Baby3. For Baby, I have received: A light pink Baby Body A Geggamoja Baby pants in dust pink/light pink A Geggamoja dribble scarf in pink My first impressions when I received the clothes: I am totally stunned by the details! I cannot believe they put little pockets in the pants! The details of it are just unbelievable. These square pockets in the front and in the back give this apparel a lovely and very sophisticated touch. The fabric is incredibly soft and thick which I do appreciate as it means it will be durable and resist the multiple washes it is going to have and most of all keep my babies warm. What do I have to say about the baby body? …

Wood, a Safe and All-Natural Teether for Baby {Haba Clutching Pyramid Toy Review}

Before becoming a parent yourself, you would never imagine how hard it is to choose a teether for a baby. Yes, I would have never imagined that choosing a teether for my little one’s aching gums could be so complicated. Well I knew that we will use Sophie La Girafe for sure but what else? When #Baby1 was teething I assumed Sophie la Girafe would be sufficient and I was wrong. I then thought that one of those plastic water-filled stars that you could freeze would do the trick. But that was not the case, they were so hard and they have joined the huge amount of products I bought for my first baby that I have never used: useless, inappropriate and unsafe. You know my passion for green living and our aim to choose safer alternatives, more natural and environmentally friendly when we can. So for Baby#3 who just starts teething at 3 months and a half I thought It was the right time to purchase her some teething toys. But which one? I definitely knew that I wanted …

Introduction to Geggamoja, a Scandinavian Organic Clothing Brand for Children

Few weeks ago, I had the chance to discover a new brand of Organic clothing for children coming right from the North, right from the beautiful Scandinavian countries: a SWEDDISH brand named GEGGAMOJA. Geggamoja is a Stylish, practical and playful Brand for Kids! Geggamoja aims to represent an urban Scandinavian lifestyle with playful bright colours and a Swedish all time favorite: stripes! They create a wide-range of 100% organic products for premature babies to outdoor wear, bedding, toys, and accessories for children aged zero to 12 years old! What do I love about Geggamoja? Certainly this Nordic feeling with the very fashionable stripes and chevrons and the bright colours. I fell instantly in love with the designs that seem to be so comfortable. The new Autumn/Winter 2016 Collection is in line with the new trend. I love the unisex designs and colour schemes. Their OUTWEAR clothing Collection are in total harmony with our british lifestyle. I am just in love with their fleece coveralls: snuggle, warm and waterproof. I do appreciate also the difference with the actual UK Organic clothing trend to use bright colours and …

Introducing Showers to a Toddler {Hevea Bath Mat Review}

Bath time is really fun for babies and toddlers but sometimes a shower is more convenient and more ecologic. I try to learn my children the sooner possible that we should not waste water. Taking a bath is a pleasure but should not be done daily, instead we take a shower. How to replace bath time by shower time and make my children more independent and more eco-conscious, and let them enjoy? The first thing is to make the experience safe. Because if you introduce shower to a toddler and she/he falls…I let you imagine the outcome. So how to make shower time safe, ecologic, economic and enjoyable for your little one? First thing and not the least, you need a good bath mat. We used to have one we bought five years ago –I don’t remember where– with ducks. I hated it and still do. Why, this rubber smell that never goes. Baba1 loved it so much that I could not get rid of it until I explained her that even if the mat …

An unusual stretchy wrap: We Made Me Wuti Wrap Review

Few weeks agowe travelled to France for half term. We have done an epic road trip and decided to lighten our luggage by not taking a pushchair: limited car boot space. So guess what I took to help me carrying baby? My wraps, indeed. This is the reason why babywearing is so practical. Checking the weather before packing everything, I was surprised to see that the expected temperature would be near the twenty degrees in Paris and even above in Avignon. Yes, we were heading the South of France with a break in Paris. All my wraps { MobyWrap and Nona woven wrap} are quite hot, large and heavy even if I absolutely love them. So I was unsure about taking them with me. I was more looking for a lightweight and breathable wrap that I could let in the car to ease our road stops. I did some researchs – you know me now – and fell in love with the Wuti Wrap® from WEMADEME.   I looked around and did not find the information I was looking for. …
