Anti-redness Skincare Routine of the moment: very dry and sensitive Skin

Hi Lovely’s!

Hope you are all fine this morning.  Next week I will be chatting a lot about Real nappies simply because I use and love them and It will be Real Nappy Week 2016.

So, I thought that I will post today my skincare routine and some other natural beauty remedies to punctuate the week. Because yes I am a FULL-TIME mum but I am also a WOMAN. And life is all about balance, and taking care of yourself is as important to take care of others.

Pregnancy is a really enjoyable period of life but sometimes brings some skin issues like brown patches and other skin condition.

As far as I am concerned I always suffered with very dry, extremely sensitive skin subject to redness. And as far as I remember it started in my early twenties {Hmmmm, I am not 20 anymore…} I tried a lot of branded skincare creams to try to ease this itchiness and redness, one of which is Avene® anti-Redness/Redness Relief Range. It is the one I liked the most but if It was working in the beginning , It has not solved the issue. Therefore, tired of spending a lot of money for minor nearly invisible results I stopped everything but as you can imagine, it get worst.

This is where my Bio’ty, or Green Beauty Journey starts.

I thought, at home:

  • we use real nappies on my daughters
  • we use cloth wipes
  • we use unpaper towels
  • we use toilet paper alternative wipes

So why not use natural handmade cosmetics ?

I have heard a lot about a French shop specializing in natural cosmetics: AROMAZONE . I decided to try and made my first order. Review coming soon and will explain you why I decided to buy from a French online retailer rather than in UK.

I have discovered that this redness and itchiness was in fact called Rosacea. It is a skin condition that can be treated BUT as it is absolutely not severe in my case, I’d rather try first natural remedies. Here is a link to NHS website explaining what Rosacea is.

Pregnancy intensify my skin condition so will try to share with you my skincare routine, this one will surely change.

ADVICE ONE: If you suffer from redness and itchiness, never use a lot of different creams because if you are reacting, you need to be able to identify to which component you are reacting.

So here is a list of what I decided to first try:

Helichrysum Hydrosol, has many, many uses.  Also known as Immortelle or Everlasting.  One of the most powerful anti-inflammatory hydrosols. Helichrysum italicum hydrosol is a strong anti-hematoma just as Helichrysum italicum essential oil. It is, however,  not as analgesic as the oil. Suzanne Catty states, “Applied in a compress to bangs and bumps, it can even bring subcutaneous bruises to the surface, exposing hidden damage.”  As well as being significantly anti-inflammatory, it is extremely cicatrisant for all wound and tissue damage.

  • ~Blackcurrant Seed Vegetable Oil~

Black currant seed oil produced from black currants through low heat technique (cold-pressed) is extremely beneficial for the skin. Its antioxidative properties can nourish your dry and damaged skin and restore its natural glow without any adverse effect.

  1.  Anti-ageing – As your skin cells get enough nutrients from black currants, they become soft and replenished. This way, you can reduce all the symptoms of ageing.

  6. Anti-dermatitis – It treats dermatitis in humans and even canines.
  • ~Plum Kernel Vegetable Oil~

Plum kernel oil is very different from apricot kernel oil or almond oil. It has a complex and rich fragrance, a fruity top note and heart notes of almonds and marzipan. It’s an oleic oil with high emollient and moisturizing properties. Plum kernel oil is highly resistant to oxidation due to the presence of γ–tocopherol in high percentage. The oil is fluid, leaving the skin is very soft when it penetrates the skin, with no greasy residue.

It is one of the quickest oils to absorb into the skin and leaves the skin feeling lovely and soft but not at all oily.  These two aspects alone make Virgin Plum Oil and excellent addition to products formulated for more delicate areas (eyes, lips, neck) and because it has its own natural aromatic quality, it will be ideal formulations where you don’t wish to add any fragrance.

It is a fine addition to creams, balms, lotions, oil blends & particularly useful for dry, mature, delicate skins and for adding aromatic depth.  Very quick to absorb with no oily residue and leave’s the skin soft & silky.

How do I use them?

Morning Combo:

Rosehip oil and helichrysum hydrosol

  • alternatively Rosewater or helicrysum Hydrosol
  • Rosehip oil
  • 2 drops of Plum Kernel Oil

Apply with a bamboo cloth wipe {or a cotton ball} on a fresh and clean face, rosewater/helichrysum hydrosol. {I keep them on the fridge to make sure that it does not lose their properties and because it is really great on skin used fresh}

You can let the water “dry” or apply directly the oils. I do put 3 drops of rosehip oil and one drop of plum kernel oil in each of my cheek and then I apply on all my face with light massages.

Rosewater and Plum Kernel oil

Why do I use Plum Kernel oil? Rosehip oil is quite oily and a slow to absorb oil. Adding plum kernel oil increases absorbency and make it more comfortable. And you will love the smell!

Evening combo:

cistus hydrosol and Blackcurrant seed oil

  • Cistus Hydrosol
  • Blackcurrant seed oil
  • 2 drops of Plum Kernel oil

You proceed the same way.

RESULTS:

I am very happy with the results after using these combos for more than a month now. My skin is not dried, very soft and the itchiness has completely disappeared! Still some redness on my cheeks but so far so good. I will surely try now to mix ingredients together and make some elixir to ease the application. Once I will make it and test it enough, will let you know.

I would love to hear from your own experience and what works for you. It is quite a hard journey and people not always understand what is happening on your face. People used to think that I was blushing every time and I was extremely shy, which is not completely false :-p

See you soon for an Aromazone review. and if you know an UK shop where I can buy good quality hydrosols, I would lobe to hear about! Thanks Bio’ties ♥
