Holztiger Story Set by Little Acorn to Mighty Oaks

Since few weeks, my interest for Holztiger animals has grown and grown. We love wooden toys and clearly we rather buy wooden toys to plastic ones for many reasons.

They last longer, they are safer, healthier and they are durable! And most of all, they offer plenty themes for imaginative and pretend play.

Tired of silly songs all day long, I wanted to connect our children to sensations, real and bright memories that will help them build, grow their imagination and encourage their development and I should say it is not always easy. I have sadly noticed that healthier alternatives are often more expensive but you do not need to switch all you have at once. Change takes time: little by little you grow and you change.

So let’s start together this journey. Why Holztiger animals? Simply because I have heard about them so much and did not understood why people were so excited and enthusiastic about them. I thought I should see by myself and see if it is just a “fashion” mummy thing or if really children will enjoy it.

I first wanted to buy few animals to see but what was the point? Have more toys, collect? I am against collecting as it pushes you to consume more than you need. Does it make sense? So I was looking for something with an aim, a purpose. Few shops have started to propose Mystery boxes. Why not? It can be great if you need some animals to put in an advent calendar and it helps you save a bit of money. But no, this was not what I wanted ~ needed.

And I have been lucky {really NOT lucky but thanks to some research efforts} to find Little Acorns to Mighty Oaks Shop and the beautiful Holztiger Story Sets they offer. This is exclusive to them and I must say the BEST way to use and start with Holztiger animals.

These sets have an educational purpose and an interesting aim. The animals illustrate the book and make it alive. They gave another dimension to the story.

Our first impression

I shall first say that I have bought some Holztiger animal with this Story Set*. The temptation was too big and the set inspired me. So here is my order:

Baba2’s favorite song is “Old McDonald has a Farm” and her first word was “COW” so I could not resist the cow o use while we sing all together! And She is just in love with dogs: wherever we are if you meet a dog in our way we have to stop or follow the dog.

For Baba1, some Wild animals to illustrate a lot of her favorite bed time stories.

I placed my order on Sunday and received it on Tuesday! Very speedy delivery and really happy with the communication. It has been a real pleasure to shop there. Prices were, I shall say very competitive!

I love the total univers and spirit. I love shopping with independent retailers and favorise whenever I can small businesses.

NOW, ABOUT THE SET:

Holztiger Story set by Little acorns to Mighty OaksMy daughters loved the book and the story! The story is about Micky who lost one of his white mitten in the snow and some animals {the height that are in the set} will find refuge inside.

We enjoyed it so much that I am now going to use it with a white mitten to complete the set. T make sure, we do not lose any animals and to make it really a story set I have sew a small “keepsake”. You can see it at the end of the video.

My only cons, if we can call it like this, is the bear. This is a small bear and in the story, at the end, the mouse goes on the bear nose, which you cannot do with the animals you get, the bear being too small. If it was a  big one, there won’t be any issue. So I am afraid, we have to buy a big bear 🙂

little accornsThe three story sets available at Little Acorns to Mighty Oaks are all very interesting and I shall admit that I know understand the enthusiasm around these well made animals and let me tell you: they are HUGE! I first could not understand the prices but now I do really!

You can of course buy the animals individually to fit any of your book, any of your favorite stories and invite your children to a new beautiful imaginative world!
