Green Beauty: Bye bye shower gels, Friendly Soap now takes care of all my tribe!

It is a long time I have not shared with you a bit of green beauty tips. Did I stop? Absolutely not. I have been just very busy testing a lot of fabulous products for my family and I. As a good tester, I take my time to gather a maximum of informations and share with you an in-depth experience.

Because beauty is a bit complicated and beauty products have a tendency to be very good when you start with them and after few weeks of use, you can get very confused and change your mind.

Are you a shower gel addict/user? This simple question can elevate a lot of opinions. Most of people love them and swear just by them.

Did you know that: “Gels first appeared in British bathrooms in the Seventies. Today (2011) some 200 million bottles are sold in Britain every year”*

natural beauty pop artThere was a time, I loved them and used them a lot. My favorite ones were those of well know french fragrance designers. I enjoyed the fact that they always leave a delicate scent on my skin.

They are clearly easy to use and offer such a large assortment of scents.

After a while, using and enjoying them, I started to feel like a “build up” of something on my skin, even if I was doing at least once a week a hammam like skin exfoliation. I hate this kind of “greasy” feeling. I started to feel like shower gels were not really cleaning. Yes , you do get a lot of foam but are you really getting washed? What are the ingredients?

And I discovered the hidden part of the iceberg. If you are using them, I let you check your bottle.

I have quite a very sensitive skin and have never thought, not even once, that my red patches were due to the shower gels I was using! I thought they were softer than soap bars. How wrong I was. I, first, switched to a well known soap bars brand with a little bird. I liked using them but was still reacting.

And my natural beauty journey started to help my body and obviously my skin feel better, be better and look better.

pop art womanSince few years, I am using only soap bars that are “safe”, free from SLS, paraben and I am quite an addict now. I love a good soap and to my own pleasure, you can find a variety of scents, forms, colours! They are all superb, better than shower gels. I feel clean and I respect my body and the environment by controlling the process and the ingredients used.

When I got married, my half discovered my little passion for soap bars. He was using shower gels like theEight out of ten people who wash themselves with gels costing up to £4 a bottle”*

Soon, he tested my soaps and discovered the difference. No more itchy feelings after showers, a real clean sensation, a softer skin and no more reactions and most of all a naturally delicate scented skin :-). I made a new adept.

When Baba1 was born I was a bit confused as many of baby soaps are gels/creams and did not know much about this market. I was afraid that soap bars will be too harsh on baby’s sensitive skin. I went for a french brand : Mustela. As you might know Baba1 has suffered a very bad eczema from birth {due to food allergies} and I stopped using any soaps really. We have been told to put a lot of moisturiser in her bath, but none worked for her. We have been advised not to use soap anymore but I wanted to try Alep soap bars and it worked!

Baba2 arribed and we are all using soap bars! Our motto “Only cold processed soaps free from animal fats, SLS and Paraben.”

savon a la rose ingredientsI am constantly looking for new ones to try, new combinations, new smells , new colours but not only. It is a real science: the different oils used during the process make the difference and give its proprieties to the soap. I eventually tried to make my own too.

Each member of our little family has its own needs. I can use the same soap for all of us but I like to find what is more suitable individually.

awardTwo months ago, I discovered a new brand “Friendly Soap“. The first thing that appealed me was the range they propose and the Green Parent Beauty Award they won! I looked at it a bit more deeply to fall in love with all the soaps they propose. Soon, I wanted to try them all for our family.

I love the ethic behind, the process and the simplicity of each soap! A simple list of ingredients that make things clear: you know what you use and what are the benefits straight away.

Friendly soap proposes a MIXED selection pack: Waw exactly what we needed! But before showing you, let’s discover together what is so special with this brand.

Our review:

If you follow my blog since a while, you will know that we are new to shampoo bars. We have switched and for the moment, we are enjoying the effect of the changes on our hair. Unfortunately this shampoo did not work on my hair even if I loved it. I shall precise that I have very particular hair that needs a lot of moisturising to keep them healthy. Meanwhile, the shampoo did not find grace to my hair, It has definitely convinced hubby to switch! WAW, I have been trying too convince him since months with no success and this bar managed after 3 washes!!! Thanks Friendly Soap to help all my family members being Green and part of this beautiful journey !

Now, I do think that this shampoo bar has a lot of beneficial ingredients. Castor oil is really good for hair growth and tea tree oil is really good to get rid of itchy scalp and dandruff {this what might have seduced other half}

Our review, shall I say MY review?:

This one is my FAVORITE! very GENTLE, a soothing and moisturising effect on my very sensitive skin that I am not going to forget. As you know I have struggles a lot with my face due to redness and I am still trying to find the best combination of natural products. I have now found my daily cleanser.

If I had to choose only ONE soap, it will be this one for all our family, for showers, bath and face. It worked very well on Baba1 delicate skin prone to eczema.

I have only one thing to say: I LOVE FRIENDLY SOAP!

The brand name is clever as these soaps are really friendly: friendly to your skin, to your pocket, to the animals, and the environment!

An affordable yet luxurious for a family looking to switch to green living.

Clearly my family choice and happy that it helped  my half switch to shampoo bars .

If I had to retain only three, these soaps will be:

my selection friendly soap

  • the shampoo bar
  • the travel soap
  • the cocoa butter facial soap

Why? They do everything! But really do I need to restrain my addiction at £1.99 per 95g soap bar? Noooo 🙂

To finish Oummanna’s award goes to:

friendly soap cocoa butter facial soap
