Week 2 : Baby’s First Bath {Green People Organic Babies Newborn Hamper Review}

We have decided to delay Baby’s first bath  for Baby3 and decided this time to give another go to baby care products.

I have been looking for months for the best products around and I decided to try Green People  because I have heard so much good things about their range.

Why Green People?

A bit of story , What attracted  me and why I like Green People:

Green people , it is a mom life to start with. The life of Charlotte Vøhtz’s.

When I first read her story  I had the feeling of a flash back with my first daughter. It seems that we have all encountered this issue : battling multiple skin, food allergies and eczema. Like many of us, after trying to find natural cosmetics with no results and realising that high streets cosmetics are everything but not natural, she created her own organic creams and salves, carefully tailored to her daughter’s allergy-prone skin.

And in 1997, Green People was born.

Did you know that? In fact you only need to have less than 1% natural or organic ingredients in the formulation to call it ‘natural’.

Green People it is the promise to never use aggressive ingredients or synthetic chemicals such as sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS), parabens, phthalates, petrochemicals, alcohol (ethanol) or synthetic fragrances or colourants, and to never test on animals.

Today Green People it is very large range of products with Organic Children and Organic Babies.

As far as I am concerned I try to avoid using any chemicals on a newborn skin. We used to wash Baba2 with only water after what happened to our first Baba. Baby’s skin is already very sensitive and we’d rather take no risk in case some allergies are “in stock”. Our experience with Baba1 has been a bit traumatic I shall confess. I will never forget my baby’s face bleeding at only 2 weeks of life, nerver will I, never should I….  It is a good and painful reminder of the bad things and products around you that can harm us.

So what did I choose? The Organic Babies Newborn Hamper*

Why? It contains all you might need for a newborn, So let’s see it together.

Baby’s First Bath

As I explained previously, we waited until Baby’s umbilical stump dropped off and it happened at day 7!

On Day 6, I really wanted to bath her but her umbilical stump was still on and thought that it would have been a waste to bathe her and to be back to square one. So We waited one more day and guess what? It dropped off in the morning of Day 7.

Before bathing baby for the first time, to make the experience more enjoyable , less stressful for baby and you, make sure Baby is content and is not hungry. As there is nothing more stressful for new parents than a newborn crying. Believe me it can be frightening: these little dudes as small as they are can be very loud!

I love bathing my babies. For me , it is a particular bonding moment and I use to do it in a special and really relaxed way. Do you remember my SPA routine with my eldest daughters?

Even the choice of the towels is important for me and my “coup de Coeur” is for the Nature Purest Pure Love Collection: Organic and so soft!

Natures purest Pure love Baby Hooded TowelStep 1} get ready, I always prepare all I needs and I think by order:

  • Organic Babies Baby’s Shampoo
  • Baby’s hooded towel
  • some of wet Cheeky wipes to start with any poonami discovered when undressing Baby
  • After bath products for a baby massage { Organic Babies soothing baby oil }
  • clean cloth nappy with a fleece liner
  • Organic Babies Nappy balm
  • Clean cloth {Baby vest and baby grow}
  • Brush hair
  • Baby hat
  • some dry wipes to use with the oil to clean/moisturize behind the ears and those little corners

Organic Babies Newborn HamperStep 2} Fill up the baby bath tube with hot water {at 37 degree Celsius}

Step 3} Undress baby and clean her little bottom – there is always a little surprise for mum!

Step 4} you can soap baby laying down her towel or in the bath. I  prefer in the bath as I think that the other method makes baby slippery. And let baby enjoy the water.

Note: Baby might cry when you undress them but usually baby stops once in the water. Always check the bath temperature before putting baby in!

I love how gentle is the shampoo with not too much a foam, so rinse easily. It is simply enjoyable to use and practical. No nasties on my baby’s skin. I know what I am using and it is priceless.

The soothing oil is not greasy and I love using it to massage baby and she seems to like it!

Baby smells nice {her own natural scent} after a bath, her skin soft and moisturized and baby is now so relaxed after the massage in her Frugi outfit!

My favorite product and my discovery is the Mum & Baby Rescue balm! I explain in  my blogpost about how to heal cracked nipples while breastfeeding why.

I think this hamper is a must have or a great way to test the products and discover them!
