Shillingford Organics Farm school: Sunset Apples

Last Saturday, we went to Shillingford Organics Farm School for the second time. Baba1 is enrolled for a Six sessions course to discover few things about the soil and harvest few wonderful organic vegetables. We first visited the School Farm earlier in September and we were very lucky to meet Fatma who gives the course. She is so fabulous and calm, that Baba1 felt well instantly. The Farm school has a little dedicated space with a shade, a polytunnel and the Hens house, surrounded by fieds and apple trees. Last week session was all about Sunset Apples: harvesting, cleaning, chopping and pressing. The children had first to harvest the apples and use a ladder. Baba1 was so excited about the ladder! They had to make a difference between the apples that would be eaten and those more suitable for juicing. Quite impressive to look at those little kids select and do a great job. We took then all the apples and washed them. It was very funny and refreshing to stay near them. Anyone looking for a rejuvenation, that …

4 simple ideas to Organic YOUR September

Organic September is an event organised by the Soil Association and the aim of it is to increase the awareness of  organic benefits. Our organic living is a journey and it started with our first daughter. Her allergies and skin sensitivities pushed us to explore: we were trying to find a way to ease her eczema. Our first organic move was to use organic skincare products and it helped her so much that I bought her some organic cotton pyjamas. I immediately noticed a change: she was more comfortable and her skin state improved. Good things happen when you go organic! I started to use only organic skincare products for all the family and even made some. Now we are building an organic wardrobe. We use what we have but when we need new clothes, we go now for Organic. For the food, we eat less but better if it makes a sense. Why is it better for us? So here is a little suggestion of what you could do to organic your September: 1} Why …

Budleigh Salterton: an afternoon out to the beach with Klean Kanteen

Living in Devon and the south coast is really a luck. We moved from York to Exeter four years ago. We have discovered such beautiful things here and what we are enjoying the most is the clement weather and the stunning landscapes. If you come on holidays in Devon, near Exeter, I cannot recommend you enough to have a look and go for a walk in all the beautiful beaches you can find here. But, if you are looking for a peaceful landscape, a magical seaside, I do recommend you Budleigh Salterton. Sidemouth is not bad too but there is something really particular with Budleigh. It is a really small, familiar town and quiet seaside. Definitely, our favorite place to go after school or when we need a bit of a fresh and revitalizing air. We just love the appeasing atmosphere…never crowded and the little shops around are so lovely. Near the seaside, there are some Children parks and our daughters love to finish our walk by playing there! We have  a kind of ritual. Let’s …
